Presented by Project: Trashion, The Union is a fashion exhibition meant to bring awareness to issues within the fast fashion industry. We aspire to create a community that minimizes their textile and general waste, questions where their clothes come from and how they were made, and uses their freedom as consumers to choose sustainability.
Throughout the day, there will be a trade show that is open and free to the public. You will have a chance to learn from and engage with our participating partners as well as shop some of their products. They are organizations advocating for sustainability, transparency and social responsibility, including local small businesses, non-profit thrift stores and our University of Waterloo student services! There will be food available for purchase and a chance to meet the models in between the shows as well.
The fashion show will showcase outfits made from thrifted clothing curated by our volunteer student stylists, highlight businesses that are producing and distributing clothes sustainably and ethically, and tell stories of our waste that will resonate with you through the medium of art, fashion, and technology.
