{ "name":"March 2023 EDI-R + I Circles Registration", "description": "https://ticketfi.com/event/4975/march-2023-edi-r-i-circles-registration\n\n\"Background Information\\n\\nThe Faculty of Mathematics hosts small circle conversations every month to help faculty and staff support equity, diversity,  inclusion, and anti-racism and Indigenization (EDI-R + I) initiatives. \\n\\nWith increasing awareness of EDI-R issues in the Faculty, Waterloo, our local community, and globally, there is recognition that Mathematics faculty and staff are being asked more frequently to explore both how EDI-R + I considerations may relate to their specific roles and what they can do personally to advance EDI-R + I  initiatives.\\n\\nWe recognize that our colleagues in the Faculty may be at different stages of their EDI-R + I journeys and could benefit from open and supportive spaces to explore what the next step of their journeys may look like. We hosting two different circles to try to meet everyone where they are on their journeys:\\n\\n\\n\\tCapacity Building Circles (Started in 2022)\\n\\tWhile there are many EDI-R + I training and development opportunities available at Waterloo, some individuals may be reluctant to fully engage in these opportunities due to a fear of not knowing the correct terminology or being judged for saying the “wrong” things. Capacity Building Circles focus on exploration and understanding, and are targeted towards individuals who are exploring how the scheduled topic relates to their specific roles. If you are starting your EDI-R journey or wish to explore new EDI-R topics – these circle conversations may be for you!\\n\\tCommunity of Practice Circles (New for 2023)\\n\\tSome individuals are already familiar with the scheduled topic and are seeking supportive environments to share both challenges in advancing EDI-R + I initiatives and strategies for overcoming them. Community of Practice circles will follow the same basic structure and format of a Capacity Building Circle, but given the assumption is that all participants have some background and experience with the topic of conversation, will generally have two rounds of dialogue - one focusing on identifying\\/exploring challenges and another focusing on the sharing of best practices.\\n\\n\\nTopic\\nThe topic for our March circle dialogues will be "Exploring Gender Equity as a United Nations Sustainability Goal"\\n\\nHow to Register\\n\\nThere are multiple circle conversations scheduled each month:\\n\\n\\n\\tTwo (2) Capacity Building Circles (noted with a CB in the ticket type)\\n\\tOne (1) Community of Practice Circle (noted with a CoP in the ticket type)\\n\\nEach session is limited to a maximum of ten (10) participants (including special guests, if applicable). All circles are open to both Mathematics faculty and staff.\\n\\nThe dates and times of each session are listed under "Tickets". Each session is 1.5 hours in length.\\n \\nWe are currently awaiting the results of our Winter 2023 Scheduling Survey before finalizing the schedule for March. Please complete the survey (if you haven't already). You can register for the "Notify Me" ticket and we will e-mail you when the dates for March are set or check back in at the beginning\\n\\nSpecial Guests\\n\\nNote: Based on feedback from previous participants, invitations are sometimes extended to folks outside the Faculty of Mathematics to join our circle conversations. While many guests may have expertise (lived or other) related to the topic of conversation, they will be participating in the circle alongside others - not "leading" the discussions. They are happy to add their perspectives and experience to the circle and are excited to hear the perspectives and experiences of other participants as well!\\n\\nThere are currently no special guests for the month of March, but this may be updated once our dates are scheduled.\\n\\nImportant Notes: \\n\\n\\n\\tWith the exception of a any special guests noted, these conversations are limited to Faculty of Mathematics faculty and staff . Offerings for students are anticipated to be offered at a later date.\\n\\tTickets for each session are only available until 1 business day before the scheduled discussion (to allow time to send the links along to participants).\\n\\tIf we do not have least four (4) registrants for a circle, the circle will be cancelled. Registrants will be invited to connect informally with the Mathematics Equity Officer to discuss the topic during the same time slot if they wish.\\n\\n\"", "startDate":"2023-03-01", "endDate":"2023-03-31", "startTime":"00:00", "endTime":"12:00", "location":"", "label":"Add to Calendar", "options":[ "Apple", "Google", "iCal", "Microsoft365", "Outlook.com", "Yahoo" ], "timeZone":"US/Eastern", "trigger":"click", "inline":true, "listStyle":"modal", "iCalFileName":"invite.ics" }
